School uniforms are standardized clothes, basis of a school’s dress code primarily for education institution. Traditionally boys wear long or short dark trousers with light coloured shirts optionally with tie. Where as girls will vary according to schooling system like basic blouse with skirts or with pinafore. In countries with cold weather students are allowed to wear blazers and suit like jackets. In Australia they traditionally are following British models. The basic aim of institutions for instructing students to wear school uniforms is to avoid self esteem problems to feeling like everyone is same. In 2006 Australian government passed an act for school staffs allowing power to assign punishments for non-compliance with school uniform dress code. The staffs were allowed to punish students with one among the following three punishments. They are as follows 1.) Detention, 2.) Exclusion from programs which is non essential from school’s education part and the final 3.) Exclusion from school activity where the student representing the school. In Scotland a local council having the power for delivering state education is not insisting students to wear school uniform as a condition for attending and participating in extracurricular activities. In California education allowing students to wear buttons, batches and insignia as freedom of speech and in student’s publications, subjects with limited restrictions.
